Why diablo 2 is better than 3

I think I now have a greater appreciation for BOTH games!īackground: I started on D3 Eternal Collection (on Switch) and beat it with my Monk a couple years ago. I sincerely appreciate the discussion you've all generated. If you like (as one or two of you have called it) the 'casino' action of bright lights, a relatively steady stream of gear upgrades, and a more casual-friendly game, then D3 is the one for you.Īgain both really good games, but almost so different in tone, feel, and 'grind' that it's difficult to fairly compare them as if one is a direct sequel to the other (even though it is).

If you like a darker and less forgiving game, you'll probably go for D2. If you generally like the style, you can probably enjoy both very much. I have to say even though I haven't gotten into any 'endgame' content in either game, haven't even beaten main story in Normal in D2R, and only barely touched the post-game content in D3, the truth is they're just two VERY different games which both happen to bear the name 'Diablo' in the title. I've been switching between the two games at random intervals to really get an acute feel for the differences & similarities. My new seasonal character is now a level 27 wizard and I'm having a blast. EDIT: Since asking this question, I've gone back and re-downloaded D3 to my Switch and started up a new character on Expert difficulty.
